Teaching, Workshops & Residencies

Barry has been a Teaching Artist and Drama Educator since 1989. In San Diego, he taught classes and did outreach with the Old Globe Theatre, and was a Master Teaching Artist with the California Playwrights Project and the San Diego Institute for Arts Education. Since relocating to Atlanta in 1996, he has taught classes and done residencies through the Alliance Theatre (AT), the Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA), Fulton County Arts Council (FCAC), Atlanta Partnership for Arts in Learning (APAL), Young Audiences (YA), Georgia Wolf Trap (GWT), Dekalb County Schools, and others. In 2008, Barry joined the faculty of the Creative Arts in Learning Division of Lesley University’s School of Education, teaching Master’s level courses in Drama and Critical Literacy and Cultural Diversity Through Storytelling with onsite cohorts of teachers, artists, and education professionals across the nation.
